my teacher read us a list of words

& told us to write the ones we remembered.

the list went something like

bed, sleep, drowsy

tired, shut-eye, snuggles

weekend, toes

& so on.

when she was done

i looked back at my list

and all it said was

snuggles

with

avery

sundays

in bed.

she said our subconsious tells us to write

what we wish was so

& thats why most of us had words

she never even said.

i could have sworn

she said his name.

way to go teacher. why don't you stomp

my heart just a little more.
